FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, NY—October 8, 2007—On Wednesday, October 10, Miss New York United States 2007, Amaris Acosta, joins InMotion (www.inmotiononline.org) and luxury shoe haven, Te Casan (www.tecasan.com) to host a private shopping event for a very special cause, putting an end to domestic violence and helping the victims and their families to get their lives back on track.
“As a Latina and a Bronx Native, I applaud InMotion’s efforts to empower not only my community, but all women who would not otherwise have the start they need to free themselves from a toxic environment,” said Amaris Acosta. “Women no longer have to suffer in silence. InMotion gives us hope, options and, most importantly, a voice. I am honored to be a part of this event, and look forward to supporting InMotion in the future.”
Every day, thousands of women throughout New York City fear going to work for fear of being stalked by abusive partners. They worry about how to feed and clothe their children without the child support they deserve. They spend countless days searching for a place to live because their abusers have forced them out of their homes. Without money for life’s basic necessities, hiring an attorney is not an option. That’s where InMotion comes in.
Volunteer lawyers at InMotion offer their services to low-income women who need free legal services in matrimonial, family and immigration law. These lawyers are on the front lines working to protect women and their children. Proceeds from this shopping event will benefit InMotion’s continued efforts to prevent tragedies and change lives.
