New York City’s Tastemakers Came Out to Toast the Launch of Online Boutique, SuperModel Gear

New York City—October 3, 2011— Some of New York’s most influential tastemakers turned out on Tuesday to celebrate the launch of Supermodel Gear (, the new edgy online fashion boutique created by model mogul, Maryam Basir (  Described as the premier international online retail space for style icons of the future, Maryam hosted a red carpet launch event at the famed Carlton Hotel.

The launch event consisted of three fashion presentations featuring some of the top fashion picks for Fall as styled by Pink Suede, Inc.’s Shatonia Amee . Shasha Lee Exclusive Salon, Bisheaba Cosmetics and Natasha Cannon had the models coifed and painted with a sexy, runway ready look. All the featured styles are currently available for purchase on the SuperModel Gear website.

Attendees networked with some of fashion and entertainment’s influencers including breakout filmmaker Qasim Basir, who directed the much talked about film Mooz-lum.  Guests tweeted and blogged live as well as scored some amazing swag .  A variety of sponsors teamed with Maryam Basir to introduce Supermodel Gear including eco-friendly feminine care brand Maxim Hygiene, Wicked Audio, Dr. Miracle Hair Products, Nooka MindStyle, The Biz Magazine and Borba Skin Care. Delectable delights were provided by Caffo Champagne & Wine alongside Hors d’oeuvres by Guillaume Derouet.
