EVENT: NYJTL 21st Century Program To Host “Leaders of Tomorrow” Panel featuring Stephen A. Smith, Aiesha Turman & Alicia Appleton

New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) will host the inaugural “Leaders of Tomorrow” panel featuring sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith, who will address the students in the NYJTL 21st Century learning after-school program at Bronxwood Preparatory Academy on April 3, 3:00-6:00 pm.

In addition to Smith, the panel will include author Fila Antwine, educator and artist Aiesha Turman, actors Orlando Brown and Otis Winston, and fashion designer Alicia Appleton. The panelists will speak about their professional experiences and will answer questions from the students.

“This panel is a new special event for the students to have exposure to various professions,” said Tawana Butler, NYJTL Site Director at Bronxwood Preparatory Academy. We are looking forward to organizing additional panels to engage the students.

The NYJTL 21st Century Learning program operates weekdays during the school year at Bronxwood Preparatory Academy serving 185 youth, ages 13-18.

The 21st Century Learning program provides free year-round tennis instructions and after-school activities to underserved New York City school children offering academic enrichment, including daily homework help, and teaching valuable life skills integrating healthy living and wellness education to promote the benefits of physical fitness.

For more than 40 years, NYJTL has offered comprehensive school and community-based programs throughout New York City serving more than 45,000 youth from ages 6-18. NYJTL is the largest tennis and education-themed community organization in the United States. NYJTL also hosts the Mayors Cup All-Scholastic Championships, which is the largest interscholastic tennis tournament in the United States.
