I Am Kreyol Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Raise $30,000 for Production and to Create Empowerment and Sustainability in Haiti

Untitled-2

BOSTON, MA—High fashion womenswear label, I Am Kreyol (Kreyol), recently launched a crowdfunding campaign that embodies its core purpose—creating a movement and giving back. Utilizing Indiegogo, the brand looks to raise $30,000 to not only produce the collection it recently showcased in London but to also start creating economic stability and sustainability in Haiti. Kreyol looks to begin production in April.

Founded by Joelle Fontaine, I Am Kreyol is a fashion brand dedicated to ALL WOMEN that was inspired by the Haitian cultural ideals of freedom, resilience and strength. The brand seeks to empower not only the women who wear the beautiful designs but also the women who help produce it. “My mother, Yolette, and I left a beautiful life in Haiti in the midst of political unrest in the late 80s when her fashion boutique was burned down. She lost everything and had to begin again,” said Fontaine. “Over these past few years, we have been creating, with a goal to maximize and grow the I Am Kreyol fashion brand. Our mission is simple. We seek to empower women to change their narrative and create the life they envision. Our garments are made to enhance our customer’s inner beauty and sense of confidence while impacting the lives of women back home. We are seeking to produce our garments in Haiti to work with skilled artisans to provide the opportunity for sustainable income and creativity in the workforce.”

I Am Kreyol has received recognition from top tier press including Conde Nast Traveler, Teen Vogue as well as features on the ‘Best of Boston’ lists for Improper Bostonian (2016) and Boston Magazine (2017).

Kreyol is looking to produce Lotus, the capsule collection it showcased during London Fashion Week. Inspired by the beautiful flower with the penchant for growing in some of the harshest of environments, the Lotus collection illustrates a woman’s tenacity to be strong, resilient and powerful even in the midst of adversity. The spring/summer collection features vibrant colors and distinct prints made of luxurious fabrics. Kreyol will be hosting a collection preview at the style-centric fashion boutique, Wolf & Badger, in New York’s trendy SoHo neighborhood on April 7th. PRESS RELEASE: AMERICAN LEGACY LAUNCHES CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN ON GOFUNDME

American Legacy Looks to Raise $500K to Launch Network Dedicated to African American History, Culture and Education

MOUNT VERNON, NY—MARCH 19,2018American Legacy Founder, Rodney J. Reynolds, announced the kickoff of the crowdfunding campaign to launch American Legacy Network (ALN), a vehicle to produce and distribute African American- centric content focused on history, culture and education. The brand looks to utilize GoFundMe to raise $500,000 to launch the network in 2019.

“This past February we saw hundreds of thousands of people flock to the movie theatre to watch the film Black Panther,” Reynolds said. “The support of the film from the black community was not only eye opening, but showed what could happen when our community becomes galvanized behind an idea. Shortly after the film’s release my publicist called me and said ‘Rodney, imagine if everyone who went to see Black Panther would make a $10 donation to American Legacy Network, you’d have the capital needed to launch in 2019!’ I thought for a second and responded by saying ‘you know you’re absolutely right’, hence the reason for this fundraising initiative.”

The money raised will allow American Legacy to produce and acquire original content that will air on the network and on the network’s on-demand platform. In addition to the network, Reynolds’ and his team are developing a feature film based on the life of pioneer aviator Bessie Coleman—which already has a script developed and plan to begin shooting a trailer later this year.

ALN and its On Demand Platform will include the following content along with other programming focused on travel, food, livestreamed cultural events and more:

  •        Classic Black Films & Historical Documentaries
  •        Conversations With Greatness hosted by JP Reynolds
  •        Black Treasure with Robin Myers!
  •        American Legacy SPORTS presents
  •        Your Black History News Updates
  •        American Legacy LEGENDS
  •        Talking ‘Bout The Blues
