South Florida Event Series Kicks Off with Fashion ‘Day Party’ in Miami


Miami, FL—STYLE CHAMBERS, South Florida’s newest event series geared towards the fashion, art and culture inclined, announced the date of their official kickoff event today. Hosted by Styles Lewis, a New York-based image consultant and co-Founder of Style Chambers, the intimate launch event will take place on August 13th in Miami’s Downtown Historic District.

The inaugural event, Style Chambers: Miami Edition, will be a fashion centric “day party” offering guests a chance to network with industry professionals, enthusiasts and influencers from the area and beyond. Attendees will also get an insider’s view into upcoming trends in the industry with a featured panel of experts moderated by event series Co-Founder, Tresa Chambers including:

  • Rory Lee, internationally recognized make-up artist and beauty business maven
  • Tamara Walker, New York-based Fashion & Beauty Publicist & Blogger
  • Styles Lewis, New York-based Image Consultant & Co-Founder of Style Chambers

Also as part of the event’s agenda, Microsoft will be hosting a workshop for entrepreneurs entitled, Build an App in an Hour beginning at 3p. Full Figured Fashion Week to Pay Tribute to Plus Runway Icons With Legends Showcase

NEW YORK, NY–Gwen DeVoe, Creator and Executive Producer of Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek®), announced today that the annual week-long curve centric fashion and lifestyle event will be hosting a special showcase that pays homage to the plus icons that blazed trails on the catwalk.  The runway show, entitled the Legends Showcase, will take place on June 16th at 404 NYC in Manhattan.

EMPOWERING WOMEN: Broadening the Definition of Beauty in Fashion and the Media

On the heels of adding author to her list of titles with the release of her debut book, The Art of Dressing Curves, celebrity stylist Susan Moses is now adding the distinguished position of advocate to her resume with the launch of Empowering Women NYC, a platform to advocate for the equal representation of ALL women in fashion, beauty and the media. The groundbreaking organization officially launched on Monday, May 9th with the “Body Inclusivity & Diversity Summit,” held in the most fitting of locations, the United Nations.

Susan gathered over 300 of fashion, beauty and the media’s top thought leaders and influencers to openly discuss how to be “agents of change,” and how to continue to democratize the industry that has slowly began changing its antiquated standards of what is deemed beautiful at the UN’s Prestigious Delegates Dining Room.

Guests of the inaugural Empowering Women NYC luncheon were first treated to the showing of the spring capsule collection of the Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant collection which was held out on the terrace. The models for the show included the who’s who of the Curvy Girl lexicon including models Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine, bloggers GabiFresh and Nicolette Mason and Orange is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks, who served as the designer’s muse and closed the show.

Following the show, the afternoon’s epic agenda continued with the attendees listening to an eclectic mix of stellar speakers and panelists hailing from the fashion, beauty, creative and media worlds. Some of the diverse class of speakers included:

2016 Power Brunch: BVI Sets Precedent for First Event of Its Kind in The Caribbean

Caribbean POSH Magazine recently wrapped the very successful premier edition of the Caribbean POSHGirl POWER Brunch: BVI earlier this month which was held on Scrub Island, the exclusive private destination resort. The first event of its kind in the region, the Power Brunch was created by the magazine’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Janette Brin, and took place April 2nd.

Following the mission of the magazine, the Caribbean POSHGirl Power Brunch was designed to be an outlet for women to support and invest in each other and establish relationships as well as friendships that can carry on beyond their business endeavors. The first edition of the empowerment event surpassed expectations with over 100 women attending.

The inaugural event, hosted by MTV Tempo host, model and St. Croix native Janeisha John, presented a diverse group of influential and dynamic women. The 2016 Class of panelists included:

In addition to the panel, attendees enjoyed an exclusive fashion show, highlighting the design talents of Caribbean women including Kristen Fraser of Trefle Designs (BVI), Markita Smith-Turnbull of Menen-I Designs (BVI), Meiling Esau of Meiling (Trinidad & Tobago) and Fiona Compton’s new luxury line Paraiso (St. Lucia).

Rounding out the exhibition highlights, guests were also invited to attend the POSHGirl Pop Up Shop which reinforced the message of support and empowerment of the region’s businesses (#ShopCaribbean) by featuring products from Trefle Designs (BVI) and featured sponsor, itiba Beauty (St. Croix, USVI).

“I felt like it was time for us as Caribbean women to get together in sisterhood and get motivated to have the best year, the best career, the best life, the best us over all–period,” Janette Brin said when asked why she launched the Power Brunch event. “This event is an unapologetically fun and stylish way to celebrate today’s career woman.”
