On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, Papo Vazquez will be conducting a master class and \nconcert for the students of PS173

in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood. The music event will serve as a fundraiser for the elementary school’s music program.

“A couple of months ago, I responded to a need for help from a music teacher at. PS173, my alma mater, ” said Howard Feigenbaum. “I remember being in third grade and getting a recorder and just how special that was. Well, music is making a come back, but as we know, there isn’t a lot of funding. I reached out to, Papo, who does this [regularly] in inner-city schools and he agreed to hold a master class and concert for the kids at PS173.” The Papo Vazquez Workshop Fund (care of The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz) will be picking up half the cost for the event and Feigenbaum has guaranteed the other half. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, 2019, the last day of the school year.

Publication Focused On High Fashion Modest Apparel to Host Showcase in Brooklyn

 

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK— MODA MANTRA MAGAZINE, the high fashion publication celebrating modest apparel, announced today that the magazine will host a runway showcase entitled “ELEVATION” during New York Fashion Week. Produced by the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Nailah Lymus, the showcase will take place on February 15th at 1174 Bedford Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn.

“The concept for ELEVATION was born from the pages of Moda Mantra Magazine,” says Nailah Lymus. “I wanted to give our audience a chance to experience globally influenced style in person with a runway experience curated to heighten their fashion senses.”

ELEVATION was established as a means to broaden the demographic for participating designers while curating an on-site pop-up shop for attendees to purchase styles “fresh off the runway.” Designers and brands participating in the premier edition of the event include:

Founded by Joelle Fontaine, I Am Kreyol is a fashion brand dedicated to ALL WOMEN that was inspired by the Haitian cultural ideals of freedom, resilience and strength. The brand seeks to empower not only the women who wear the beautiful designs but also the women who help produce it. “My mother, Yolette, and I left a beautiful life in Haiti in the midst of political unrest in the late 80s when her fashion boutique was burned down. South Florida Event Series Kicks Off with Fashion ‘Day Party’ in Miami

Hosted by Styles Lewis, a New York-based image consultant and co-Founder of Style Chambers, the intimate launch event will take place on August 13th in Miami’s Downtown Historic District.
