Publication Focused On High Fashion Modest Apparel to Host Showcase in Brooklyn

 

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK— MODA MANTRA MAGAZINE, the high fashion publication celebrating modest apparel, announced today that the magazine will host a runway showcase entitled “ELEVATION” during New York Fashion Week. Produced by the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Nailah Lymus, the showcase will take place on February 15th at 1174 Bedford Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn.

“The concept for ELEVATION was born from the pages of Moda Mantra Magazine,” says Nailah Lymus. “I wanted to give our audience a chance to experience globally influenced style in person with a runway experience curated to heighten their fashion senses.”

ELEVATION was established as a means to broaden the demographic for participating designers while curating an on-site pop-up shop for attendees to purchase styles “fresh off the runway.” Designers and brands participating in the premier edition of the event include:

  • Erica Vanessa NYC, high end womenswear line specializing in “made-to-measure” couture and ready-to-wear
  • ShoeStory NYC, e-commerce “shoetique” and App (available on iTunes) connecting clients to the latest footwear trends
  • Amirah Creations, luxury womenswear line specializing in limited edition, modest fashion-forward apparel and accessories
  • Amber Poitier, a contemporary architectural leather-based jewelry line.
  • Ana Segura, luxury evening and resort wear for women

 

ELEVATION will also feature performances by multi-talented neo-soul singer/songwriter Kojo Stone—whose refreshing blend of Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz and Soul has been making his mark in the entertainment industry with recent successes including the feature of his hit single, “Surface Love” (produced by Z the Pro) in Oscar-nominated star, Gabourey Sidibe’s first short film, The Tale of Four; as well as Salimah Rah, a female vocalist and emcee who delivers a hypnotic fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul and Funk. Known for her lyrical prowess and soulful vocal stylings, Salimah Rah has collaborated with various artists for years and will be releasing her upcoming album, FREEDOM, later this year.

Designer Ana Segura returns to New York Fashion Week with “Rocker Chic” Collection

NEW YORK CITY— Ana Segura, famed intimate apparel designer, announced today she will be debuting a new capsule collection featuring ready-to-wear pieces during next month’s New York Fashion Week. The presentation style showcase will take place on February 8th at The Armory, located at 529 W 42 nd Street in midtown Manhattan. 
 
Known for her sexy yet stylish lingerie assortments of the past, this new collection entitled “Rocker Chic,” represents a departure from Ana’s past as she shifts her attention to ready-to-wear with a focus on pieces that can easily transition from day to night and ultimately to the red carpet. This collection features a strong intimates aesthetic combined with a sleek black and gold palette. “After taking a break to

start a family, I decided it was time to return to my true love and passion,” says Segura. “This collection signifies my growth throughout my career—displaying my background in lingerie but showcasing styles made for a woman who loves to be in the spotlight. The collection is edgy and elegant. Rocker Chic reflects me as it features pieces that I would personally wear.” 
 
To complement this season’s collection, Ana has teamed with New Jersey-based Voa Salon for hair services for the featured models, milliner Gwen Green of the Hat Studio, Juwelen V by Vanessa for accessories and footwear from Signature by John Ashford. Interior design and visual art phenom, Laura Diaz will provide the set design for the presentation. This season’s presentation has been sponsored by Stadium Soundz.

Born in Puerto Rico to Dominican parents, Ana Segura is a contemporary, luxury fashion designer whose talent was born of a rich family tradition in fashion. Breathe.Pray.Love, the line’s first collection—inspired by the memoir and film, Eat.Pray,Love—is a metaphor of the designer’s journey in the fashion world. Breathe being a representation of letting go of her twelve-year stint in corporate fashion (exhale) and embarking on a new path (inhale). Pray depicts Appleton’s search for direction, peace and happiness. Ultimately, Love is exemplified in the collection that showcases her renewed passion to create.

NEW YORK CITY— Brooklyn-based fashion brand, Amirah Creations, announced recently that her Spring/Summer 2014 collection will debut during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York later this month. Featuring the modest yet edgily sophisticated designs of ingénue, Nailah Lymus, the highly anticipated presentation will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Alchemical Theatre, located at 104 W 14th Street in the city’s trendy West Village.

Known for creating modest yet fashion forward apparel, Amirah Creations is an established brand who has successfully shown collections around the United States and most recently in Indonesia. The brand targets women who seek quality fabrications, great fit, en trend styling all the while conforming to a more modest style of dress. The Spring/Summer 2015 collection, entitled Equanimity, is inspired by a woman who leads a stress free, fashionable life. She cares about her presentation, making a statement with her style yet refused to make things complicated and uncomfortable. She will not be identified as a follower but rather defined by her individuality. The collection is for women in all stages of life…mother, wife, career woman, socialite and of course…fashionista.

This season, Nailah Lymus will be co-presenting her collection with Australian-based designer Amalina Aman. Showcasing her self-titled line, Amalina is well known throughout Asia and Australia for creating beautiful, feminine and modest yet chic clothing. Drawing inspiration from cultural (Malay/Cocos/Australian) and familial ties, Aman will debut her collection entitled Enchanting Romance. This particular collection was inspired by history, nature and art. Amalina find the motivation for her fashion from everything around—from works of art in a museum to the beaches of her native Keeling Island to her mother and grandmother who serve as her muses.  Amalina Aman is for today’s woman.

Nailah Lymus, who in addition to being a designer is the founder of modest modeling agency, Underwraps Agency (www.theunderwrapsagency.com) is casting and producing this season’s presentation. Both designers have teamed with the famed Japanese creative services agency, Augment (http://augment.cc), who will be creating hair and make-up magic for the showcase.
