For the past few weeks, midtown’s been going through a transformation. If you walked past 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, there’s no way you missed all the construction going on. Huge white tents were going up. The entrances to the park were roped off. That could only mean one thing…it’s Fashion Week in New York—the kick-off to the fashion “season” and the premier event of its kind in the country.

A week-long event that takes place twice a year (February and September); Fashion Week gives us a sneak peek into what we will be wearing in six months. Weeks prior, designers clamor to finish up their collections. The PR firms go over the listings of buyers, stylists, celebrities, press and socialites with a fine tooth comb—trying to determine who will get one of the coveted invitations to the shows at Bryant Park and the many other venues around the city. If you’re one of the chosen few to be awarded the exclusive invite, that means you have entered a realm of exclusivity second to none.

As many of you already know, I’m a PR princess, budding socialite and certified DIVA and I’ve been sharing my escapades about Fashion Week for years—giving you backstage and front-of-house access to some of the most talked about fashion events in the city. This year is no different. Welcome to Fall/Winter 2010 at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
